A number of women I know are experiencing a shift. Either they are taking a fresh look at the direction their lives are going or they are about to step through a new doorway. Some were motivated by a sudden health change, others by retirement or workplace reductions, and a few simply got a strong feeling that it was time to do something else.
It’s worth taking time to consider not only our options, but what our heart is calling us to do next. There’s been no better time to open up to the desires of our soul and allow our authentic self to show up. This is not the time to chase after yet another ego trip. It’s definitely not time to go once again down that rabbit hole in search of another distraction. It’s time to get real.
So why don’t more of us eagerly pursue a new direction? Because change can seem scary. We are programmed to avoid it, to structure our lives in ways that help us keep things as they are. Predictable. Secure. Except that’s an illusion and it keeps us stuck. And worse, it doesn’t allow us to fulfill our purpose.
Set aside your fear of the unknown long enough to catch a glimpse of a greater future. Instead of imagining worst case scenarios, envision possibilities. Fast-forward past worries and focus on how you can use your gifts to bless the world around you.
Each step you take in the new direction, go with awareness that you will be supported. One of my favorite quotes, popularly attributed to German author Goethe, goes like this:
“The moment one definitely commits oneself, Providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
